NSW Police – Special Constables bulletin – March 2018 (PDF version)

The PSA has reached agreement with NSW Police to convert Special Constables’ leave conditions over to those of Administrative Staff. This will include an increase in Sick Leave entitlements from 10 days to 15 days per year and a new entitlement to Family and Community Services (FACS) leave, replacing Short Leave.

There has been a frustrating delay in getting this implemented due to disagreements about the way members are transitioned across and the starting balances for these entitlements. An initial proposal from NSW Police was deemed highly inadequate by delegates. A new offer has now been put as follows, with a proposed implementation date of 1 May 2018:

Sick Leave

Members will begin accruing Sick Leave at the higher rate from the date of implementation.

FACS Leave

All members, regardless of length of service, will receive:

  • Starting balance of 2.5 days on 1 May 2018
  • Additional 2.5 days on 1 May 2019
  • Additional 1 day on 1 May every year thereafter

The Special Constables Advisory Group and PSA Industrial staff endorse this offer.

Members are encouraged to vote HERE.

Voting closes at 9am on Monday, 26 March 2018.

Once finalised, PSA delegates and staff will proceed in negotiations on other matters from the Special Constables log of claims.
