Leave for Staff Affected by Flooding and Storm Damage in NSW

Employees living or working in areas declared natural disaster zones who have been directly impacted by the storms and flooding in NSW last week are able to access leave entitlements as per the Department of Premier and Cabinet Circular C2012-01 Leave for Staff Affected by Flooding in Northern NSW.

Details regarding employees who volunteer to assist emergency services are also provided in the circular.

Read the circular HERE.

For other employees impacted by the storms, entitlements to leave and flexible working arrangements should be accessed in consultation with their managers, who are encouraged to apply a flexible approach and manage requests with discretion.

This is to be read in conjunction with Clause 17 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009, which provides details regarding Natural Emergencies and Major Transport Disruptions for employees covered by the award.

In accordance with clause 71.2.3 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009, staff may access FACS leave entitlements where flooding threatened their property or prevented their reporting for duty.
