NSW Police Radio update – IRC orders Work Bans Lifted

NSW Police Radio update – IRC orders Work Bans Lifted – August 2017 (PDF version)

Your PSA representatives appeared today before the Industrial Relations Commission. NSW Police Force applied for orders that the bans in force in Radio Operations Group cease immediately.

Commissioner Murphy had strongly recommended on Friday the bans be lifted. Today the PSA argued against the making of an order in this case.

The PSA argued strongly members have a right to take industrial action, that the bans were not hurting the public, and that the Commission should take this into account and decline to make orders. Notwithstanding our submissions, Chief Commissioner Kite, noting that the bans had already been in place for a week, issued orders that all industrial action is to cease from 7pm today.

The union has resolved to comply with the orders to protect members and the union from any liability. However the PSA intends to continue to pursue the defence of 60/30 breaks through the Industrial Relations Commission.

Members are accordingly advised that all bans in Police ROG should be lifted completely from 7pm today Monday, 14 August 2017.

Any action taken by individuals after 7pm is not endorsed by the PSA.
