Members would be aware Sydney Institute of TAFE notified the PSA/CPSU of a proposed restructure in the Student Learning & Facilities Directorate in November last year. The proposal includes reducing the staff FTE positions in libraries in the Institute from 62.5 to 41.

The results of TAFE’s ballot for your enterprise agreement are in: a massive 81% voted NO!
The PSA’s NO VOTE campaign in response to proposed cuts to wages and conditions in TAFE has been a huge success.
81% of members voted NO.
TAFE have written to your PSA (CPSU) bargaining team advising that due to a “systems error” approximately 152 staff did not receive TAFE’s notice that they were commencing the access period for the proposed enterprise agreement. The PSA (CPSU) has written to TAFE requesting details on the “systems error”, the circumstances surrounding it and if an extension to a September 16 deadline has been approved by the NSW Wages Policy Task Force for TAFENSW to provide back pay.
The PSA, along with other unions, met with TAFE on 1 and 2 July to continue to negotiate the conditions contained in your next enterprise agreement. Your union had previously lobbied for TAFE to provide a guarantee that a 2.5% pay increase awarded to other workers in the government sector would be extended to TAFE staff retrospectively and back-dated to July 2015.
Last week TAFE sent an update out to all staff regarding the classification consultation. The PSA (CPSU) needs to let you know that the classification is still under development and is yet to be agreed. The current enterprise agreement provides that the parties will make ‘best endeavours’ to complete ‘consultation’ on the development of a new classification structure.
