About The Women’s Unit

Women

The aim of the Women’s Unit is to progress the interests of the Association’s female members and to consider any question which affects them.

The Women’s Unit undertakes research on gender and equity issue. For example, it has worked on the union’s workforce profile and most recently the Premier’s flexible work commitments. It develops policy on women’s industrial matters in conjunction with Women’s Council Committee; and promotes women’s issues in the workplace as well as the broader community through submissions and working collaboratively with other unions and organisations.

The unit also advises other industrial staff on issues such as discrimination and harassment and represents the interests of women members of the PSA within the broader movement. The Unit collaborates with delegates and identifies trends relating to women’s issues.
