Public sector workers will stand up for jobs

Protests by public sector workers will go ahead on Monday, as thousands face jobs cuts and cuts to conditions under the NSW Liberal Government.

Public Service Association of NSW General Secretary John Cahill said that the anger of workers and their families about the threat of job loss and loss of rights is deep in the community, and will not be held back.

“It is a time of great uncertainty for many thousands of workers in NSW, and the unfair cuts and threats to rights by the O’Farrell Government has caused a groundswell of opposition,” Mr Cahill said.

Mr Cahill said that many regional communities were feeling the pinch, and many Government departments face losing services as jobs are cut.

“Many thousands of our members feel they have no choice but to take a stand against the massive cuts to the public sector, to protect jobs and services. They feel a responsibility to the public of NSW to fight these cuts, Mr. Cahill said.

Mr Cahill said Monday’s protest would go ahead in support of services and jobs.
