PSA members – Supporting International Day of people with Disability – November 2015 (PDF version)

As PSA members know, the theme for this year’s International Day of People with Disability is “Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities”.

The International Day of People with Disability website states that the “annual theme provides a frame for considering how people with disability are excluded from society by promoting the removal of all types of barriers; including those relating to the physical environment, information and communications technology…”

The PSA believes that ADHC clients have not been properly informed about the Government’s risky decision to dismantle ADHC.

Nor have they been given information on the risks and gaps already emerging as a result of the Government’s decision to remove ADHC from the sector.

What’s more, while the theme for 3 December relates to inclusion and empowerment, the NSW Government will deny ADHC clients the right to choose to stay with ADHC as their provider.

That is why 3 December was chosen as the day of action for ADHC.

PSA members in ADHC (excluding Home Care) are directed to strike for four hours on Thursday 3 December from 12noon to 4pm.

What to do during the strike

PSA members in ADHC (excluding Home Care) are directed to stop work and leave your group home or office building.

You should gather in front of your workplace wearing red or your PSA t-shirt and take a group photo. Make sure you post the photo to Twitter or Facebook with #

To help the PSA raise awareness about the dismantling of ADHC and its consequences, you are asked to attend a community event listed on the International Day of People with Disability community event calendar.

Members are advised to work with your delegates to identify what event you can attend.

The list of events can be found HERE:

When at an event, please:

  • Talk to people about the consequences of dismantling ADHC, and hand out THIS FLYER ; and/or
  • Hand out THIS LETTER to parents and clients so they can write to their local MP
