Trustee & Guardian Restructure disaster

Trustee & Guardian Restructure disaster – May 2018 (PDF version)

The Public Service Association (PSA) notes that PPB Advisory has completed its report on the State of NSW Trustee & Guardian.

The PSA notes the report has identified many “key pain points” which have had a disastrous impact upon our members.

The PSA has consistently identified many pain points throughout the restructure in the following forums:

  • Joint Consultative Committees
  • Peak Justice Consultative Committees
  • Industrial Relations Commission
  • Meetings with Price Waterhouse Coopers
  • A meeting with the Attorney-General.

NSW Trustee & Guardian disregarded the concerns raised, especially the prediction by the PSA that TAGS would not be ready in a timely manner in order to support staff. As members may recall, NSW Trustee & Guardian justified slashing jobs by stating that TAGS would produce the required efficiency improvements.

Due to the committed engagement of the members, delegates and the PSA, there have been many changes to the original structure including additional staff to cope with increasing workloads.

However, the changes have not been enough to repair the havoc caused by the original irrational and ill-considered staffing cuts.

The PSA looks forward to working with the new management to fix the problems in the Department. The PSA will continue to fight for your rights at this difficult time and argue for additional staff to ease the workload crisis and re build the organisation.
