After two days of silence the Department late yesterday finally admitted that SAS Staff will not be paid leave loading until 27 December.

The Department admitted this was done when it configured the SAP HR PAYROLL system.

SAS Staff, as with many other employees in the state, rely upon their Annual Leave Loading to assist with the many expenses in the lead up to and including Christmas. Without notice, without consultation and without any conscience the department deliberately configures the payroll system to cause considerable financial stress to its own staff in the Christmas vacation period.

Why is the Secretary of the department who earned $560,000 last year refusing to pay staff who earn as little as $19.02 an hour the money they so desperately need through the Christmas vacation period?

The PSA has filed a Dispute Notification with the NSW Industrial Commission and we expect that we will be appearing on behalf of members next week.

Contact the Minister for Education, the Hon. Rob Stokes MP and your local member of Parliament and ask that the Minister instruct the department to pay your Annual Leave Loading before Christmas.
