Professional Learning for SAS and Non-Teaching Staff in Schools – June 2019 (PDF version)

As you will be aware, the model of professional learning delivery using SASS Reference Groups (SRGs) is in the process of transition to a new model facilitated by Learning and High Performance, with plans to commence the new model on 1 July 2019.

Your union is in ongoing discussions with the Department, with the aim of ensuring that the new model delivers the best training outcomes for members through equity of access and relevance to learning needs. The PSA and DoE continue to consult regarding the governance structure and terms of reference currently being finalised for endorsement.

Members have reported concerns regarding communication about these changes and the formation of working groups, as well as questioning the relevance of course content currently being delivered. The PSA has requested a professional learning needs analysis, however the DoE informs us that this has been placed on hold whilst they attain the services of personnel with expertise in design and content.

We encourage members to continue to report any concerns about the provision of SAS staff and non-teaching staff professional learning to with the subject heading ‘professional learning’.
