Are you aware of the Community Language Allowance Scheme?

Community languages - Oct 2019 (PDF version)

Thank you to those members who took the time out to complete the survey. We would like to offer the opportunity again for anyone who hasn’t yet completed our short survey.

Under the current Service NSW Award there is an allowance that qualified NSW Government employees receive, who have a competency in a language other than English and work in locations where their language is used to assist customers.

The PSA is currently investigating who is being paid this allowance, which roles meet the scheme and how our eligible members could access this allowance. The allowance contained in the Service NSW Award is $1448 or $2177 per year depending on the level of qualification.

We have created a survey that we encourage all members to fill out to help us gauge how many of our members could be eligible to claim this allowance while we complete our enquiries with Service NSW.

The Survey can be found here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ServiceNSWCLASSurvey

Mate is not a member?

Have a chat to your work mates about the PSA, ask if they’re a member, and if not, ask them to get involved!

The union is only as strong as its members, and so we can do more for you if there are more members in your workplace. Not only will you be making sure your workmates are supported and protected, you’re also making sure our fight for your rights is stronger.
