School Administrative and Support Staff (SAS) are an important cog to schools across the state.

Last week was SAS Recognition Week which is an opportunity for school communities to thank their support staff for their dedication to public education.

Bradfordville Public School celebrated the week with a morning tea for their SAS staff.

Some of the highlights of working at the school for them are the musicals, sporting carnivals, assemblies and getting awards.

The longest working SAS member currently at the school is Mark Brown who has been there for 18 years and he said the school has grown exponentially during that time.

He works around the school grounds and has been in charge of constructing the school’s garden and aims to create a beautiful environment for the students to be in.

Bradfordville Public School relieving principal Bede Darcey said he was very fortunate to be able to have the support of the SAS staff.

“Coming in and taking on the reigns as principal, the SAS staff have really supported me this term,” Mr Darcey said. “I really value and appreciate their commitment, dedication and the way they work together.

“They are a phenomenal team who like to have a lot of fun which makes the school day a really enjoyable place to be for students and staff.”

NSW Department of Education Secretary Mark Scott thanked all SAS Staff for their hard work.

“These staff are often the first point of contact for parents and play a vital role in customer service,” Mr Scott said. “With an incredible year so far with bushfires, floods and COVID-19, our staff have had to be increasingly flexible to adapt to changing scenarios and pandemic restrictions.”
