PSA General Secretary Stewart Little said the planned restructure was “an acknowledgement of what an abject failure the 2015 outsourcing to Unisys has been”.

“The NSW DCS says it is now investing in governance, in-house IT ability and the state’s cyber-security. It absolutely should do this,” he said.

“But it needs to go further and bring all IT functions in-house, so that we can have control over the function and private data of people in NSW.”

Mr Little warned, however, that the DCS restructure “must not come at the cost of hardworking, existing employees”.

“The union is concerned that some of the changes will see employees have less flexibility – we will be representing these concerns, and working closely with all affected [members],” he said.
