Meeting: PSA iCare Departmental Committee Delegates - Public Service Association

Meeting: PSA iCare Departmental Committee Delegates

On 20 August 2024, the PSA iCare Departmental Committee, your elected PSA delegates, met at PSA House with the union’s Industrial Staff. The main issue for discussion was the current restructure at iCare.

Mark Morey, Secretary of Unions NSW addressed the meeting.

Your PSA Delegates have raised a number of concerns about the current iCare restructure. Members were asked for their feedback on the restructure in the last Bulletin HERE.

The PSA Industrial Officer also attended the town hall meetings to raise your issues directly with iCare. The consultation process has now concluded and following consideration of the feedback, iCare is expected to confirm the proposed structure in early September 2024.

The PSA has raised several issues as part of the consultations. Namely the PSA want iCare to follow the NSW Government Workforce Mobility Placement Process and the NSW Managing Excess Employees Directive (MEE). The mobility policy provides for a priority placement process for affected employees prior to advertising the new roles.

iCare has said it will advertise the new roles externally in accordance with the iCare Recruitment and Selection Policy. It’s not clear how iCare proposes to prioritise impacted employees in the recruitment process where the positions are advertised externally.

In the current proposal, iCare proposes to reduce roles across the organisation by 7 per cent, removing 236 roles and creating 104 new roles. Of the 104 new roles created iCare expects more than 50 per cent of impacted employees will be redeployed.

The PSA will push for a priority placement process for impacted employees is the best way to reduce the job loss caused by redundancies.

If you have any questions in connection with the proposed restructure, please contact the Member Support Centre on 1800 772 679 or email quoting reference number 224045.

Remember all employees can request to have a support person, who may be the union if they are a PSA member. Only members will be able to call on the union for support.
