PSA pushes for better communication, protections for members in Service NSW restructure

PSA Staff along with delegate Trina Leask met again on 11 July 2024 with management for our weekly restructure meeting. These meetings are an important opportunity for your union to raise the concerns of members, and fight to save your jobs in any way we can.

The PSA General Secretary Stewart Little has discussed the alarming level of cuts, just in the first round of restructure, with Minister for Customer Service and will continue to pursue this issue for members at the highest level of Government.

At the meeting with Service NSW today, the following matters were discussed:

  1. Service NSW advised that there will be a reduction of 16 per cent of Senior Executive Band (SEB) roles (Bands 1 and 2) by the end of financial year 2024/25.
  2. Service NSW confirmed that people on parental leave do not have to re-apply for their jobs.
  3. An FAQ document is being put up on the sharepoint. PSA has insisted that local managers reach out to those on secondment/leave to ensure they get the regular updates.  Questions and concerns, particularly from those who don’t have access to the Sharepoint, can be emailed to
  4. Staff have raised concerns about the assignment to role process. PSA was assured by Executive Director, Service Delivery that assignment to location will be based on preference.  It was also agreed that interview panels would include an independent person from People and Culture.
  5. There are still concerns around how current work will fit into the new directorate.
  6. It was noted that Cyber Security has been quiet in terms of concerns. PSA encourages members to raise any issues during this consultation process or to send concerns through to
  7. For all Restructure Management Plans (RMPs), Service NSW will propose that future state roles will be headquartered across the following locations:
    •  McKell
    • Parramatta (Contact Centre only)
    • Gosford (Contact Centre only)
    • Maitland (Contact Centre only)
    • Newcastle (Contact Centre only)
    • Lithgow (Contact Centre only).
  8. Service NSW will consider role headquarters outside of the noted locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role.

The PSA fights for members – encourage your colleagues to join

Now more than ever it is important to be a member of the PSA. Only members will have the benefit of a strong and growing union fighting for their jobs.

If your colleagues are not yet members, encourage them to join so they can do their part in saving Service NSW jobs.

PSA will meet again with management on 18 July 2024.  Please contact quoting reference number 222518 with any further concerns.
