Salaries Update and Survey for Members - Public Service Association

Salaries Update and Survey for Members

On 4 July 2024 the State Government finally responded to the PSA’s letter of 27 May, in which we called for the Government to improve their ‘Baseline Remuneration Adjustment’ offer. Their response was to reject our request and to insist that NSW Public Servants accept a pay cut.

This letter was only received following the PSA’s lodgment of disputes with the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) over the 2024-25 pay rise for our Awards that expired at the end of June and following the intervention of the new President of the IRC and a Full Bench.

In their letter to the PSA the Government attempted to pass off compulsory superannuation increases as a Salary increase, claimed that an offer below inflation in 2024-25 represented a fair and reasonable offer to Public Servants, and continued to insist on a no extra claims clause for all Awards. In addition, the government also offered a ‘cost of living’ adjustment payment that only kicks in after Public Servants are more than 1 per cent worse off against inflation, would not count towards future increases (ie a one off payment) and would only be paid next July!

As the President of the IRC has indicated that he expects the parties to progress negotiations and has set down the PSA’s various award related disputes for conciliation on 17 July 2024, we are now seeking guidance from our members to assist us during those negotiations and beyond.

Please click on the survey HERE and have your say on this important issue.

Note: This survey will assist us in negotiations only. Any offer made to the PSA as a result of negotiations or conciliation will be put to members as per our rules.

Remember, only PSA members get a say on Salaries offers. Encourage your colleagues who are not members to join today, so they can also have a say on the future of their Award.
