The PSA met with representatives from Service NSW and the RMS on Thursday, 9 July 2015 to discuss the roll out of Service NSW locations across NSW. The PSA sought the meeting after the announcement from Minister Perrottet to open 27 Service NSW sites in the next financial year.

The PSA was provided with an update on recruitment activities and conversion for the current Service centres including Hornsby 17/7, Lithgow 18/8, Cowra 21/8, Deniliquin 14/9, Bateman’s Bay 11/9, Ryde (Macquarie Centre) 18/9, Richmond early October, Silverwater – Driver testing, November and Wallsend, December.

The PSA sought clarification regarding
the leaked proposal for Campbelltown/Ingleburn and Narrellan Registries. Service NSW advised the PSA that there were no firm proposals for the closure/merger of these worksites despite the considerable press surrounding these activities.

The PSA sought clarification on Minister Perrottet’s announcements of a further 27 Service NSW sites to open in the financial year 2015-2016. Disappointingly however, there was no more information that Service NSW would provide the PSA. This is despite there being considerable leaks and rumours within the RMS and Service NSW over worksite conversions.

The PSA has since written to Minister Perottet on 29 June seeking:

  • discussions with regards to the Government Strategy including a clarification of those 27 worksites; and
  • a commitment for services to be maintained in urban and regional areas.

Service NSW have also committed to speaking to the staff located at the Dealer Service Centre with the expectation for the function to move across in some format during this financial year.

The PSA will provide feedback to members when that information comes to hand.
