Members of Parliament Staff Vocational Advisory Group: Annual General Meeting
The PSA is pleased to announce the reformation of the Electorate officers are the face of MPs in their electorate and assist constituents with matters ranging from housing, community grants to congratulatory birthday and anniversary messages. Older people also rely on electorate offices as government services become more digitised and unfamiliar.
The AGM was held on 22 January 2026, and the following office bearers were elected:
Committee members
- Suzette Meade Chair
- David Halliday Assistant Chair
- Angus Hoy Secretary
- Rachel Smoothy Assistant Secretary
Advisory Group members Leeca Higgins and Joseph Steel attended via Teams with Emma-Jane Scott an apology.
Members are staff for MPs and MLCs work in more than 90 electorate offices across the state. Staff often feel isolated, especially in rural and regional areas.
The three most important issues for EOs are currently:
- Replacement of the Determination that was legislated in 2011 with a fair and equitable Award in line with other public sector workers.
- Updated Position Description that accurately reflects day-to-day duties and changes in the role.
- Increase in staff to mirror the increase in workload and reliance of the public on staff in electorate offices as their link to public services provided by the state government.
- The recent review of the Determination gave more staff more flexibility when covering leave and subsequent pay rises won by the PSA have made a real difference for these members.
With the PSAโs support, individual members are empowered to commit to a shared goal that benefits us all.
The PSA is the only union for Members of Parliament Staff
The PSA is the only union that can represent the interests of Members of Parliament Staff. ย No other union has jurisdiction, coverage or the years of experience. If you are a member of another union or know someone who is, now is the time to join the PSA. We committed to supporting Members of Parliament Staff across the state and continue to advocate for improved workplace conditions, fair treatment, and industrial protections.
