Since our last bulletin, your union has participated in another two Enterprise Bargaining meetings. Thank you to all members who joined our member meeting to discuss bargaining. We are pleased to see that the University has returned to the table to continue bargaining despite the EA proposal ‘package’ they suddenly distributed to all staff a couple of weeks ago.
With all our claims tabled, we have made substantial progress on a number of matters and the highlights include:
- Further discussion of fixed term contracts and avenues for more secure ongoing employment,
- clarified pathways to secondment and professional development opportunities,
- movement on improvements for staff living with disabilities and chronic health conditions,
- fairer notification of performance concerns for staff and,
- clearer terms around access to Higher Duties Allowances for staff with deputising responsibilities in their position descriptions
