PSA escalates the campaign for Public Disability Services

PSA takes the fight to the Premier

On 18 March, members took to the streets of Manly to protest the privatisation of disability services and escalate our fight all the way to Mike Baird’s doorstep.

The PSA publicly called out the Premier for the privatisation of public disability services; you can see photos of the March to Mike’s office HERE.

Union solidarity – other unions join the fight against the Government

The PSA has been working to build a coalition of allies in our fight to defend public disability services.  This resulted in community members and representatives from other unions also supporting the rally including Mary Yaeger from Unions NSW, members from NSW Nurses and Midwives Association (NSWNMA), the President of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy (CFMEU) Union Rita Mallia and members from the Rail, Tram, Bus Union (RTBU).

We were even joined along the way by a ferry worker who is a member of the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA).

Keeping up the pressure – escalating our campaign in 2016

PSA members from across NSW have been leading the fight against the privatisation of disability services in NSW, but it is far from over.

We know the Government will keep trying to bury our issue, but our voices will not be silenced.

We will take the fight to Mike Baird, Gladys Berejiklian and John Ajaka over and over and over again until our voices are heard.

What’s Next?

The PSA has been working hard to get our petition against the privatisation of disability services debated and will be returning once more to rally at Parliament House in September.  Keep up to date with the campaign by liking the PSA Facebook page HERE.

We have developed a campaign sheet HERE for members who wish to engage others on the milestones of our campaign since 2013 when the NDIS Enabling Bill was revealed.
