The CPSU NSW, your union, is aware that members of another union at the University of Sydney are taking industrial action and will strike for 24 hours on 2 September 2026.
Professional staff members represented by the CPSU NSW at the University of Sydney are not on strike and are expected to report for work on Wednesday 2 September 2026. Failing to report for work will result in loss of salary.
Members should also not undertake any duties or accept responsibility for work that would normally be carried out by striking workers.
The CPSU NSW reminds members to work in accordance with their position description and within their regular hours of work. The possibility of accumulated work arising from one-off events such as industrial action should not be a reason to work additional hours.
We advise all CPSU NSW members and staff that:
- When you arrive at work you may be approached by a staff member about their protest action. Feel free to talk to them and take any material they hand out.
- All staff engaged in the protest action must act in a peaceful and orderly manner and should not seek to threaten, intimidate or physically prevent individuals going to work.
- All staff engaged in the protest action must pay due regard to safety issues, especially in relation to traffic and traffic flow.
