The PSA and Botanic Gardens & Centennial Parklands (Gardens) management have made significant progress on a settlement to provide back pay to PSA members for the non-payment of Clause 46. Uniforms, protective Clothing and Laundry Allowance, of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009, and the ongoing payment of the allowance to all eligible Gardens staff going forward.
On the 31st October the PSA met with Gardens representative to negotiate a framework to expedite a settlement on this important issue. The PSA will progress the back pay claim for PSA members only. The payment of back pay to compensate PSA members will be processed by the period of 12 December 2018.
Over the next 2 weeks the PSA will hold meetings across all Gardens worksites and compile a comprehensive list of members entitled to the allowance. The PSA intend to submit the names of our members to receive back pay no later than Friday 16 Nov 2018. For this purpose, please ensure your membership details are updated and correct.
It is important all Garden staff entitled to the allowance do not miss out! It is critical we encourage our work colleagues to join the PSA and work with us to protect and improve on our workplace rights and entitlements. Non-members can join the PSA online at www.psa.asn.au/join/
On another important issue, the PSA have been working hard to ensure Garden staffs on 38 hours maintain their 9-day Fortnight arrangement. Gardens staff have indicated this is a flexible work condition that provides mutual benefits to both the Gardens and its staff. The PSA and our members remain steadfast to protect this important provision.
