External Relations and Strategy, International and ELICOS and Commercial Business restructure

On 2 December, Hunter TAFE finally released to staff a long-awaited restructure for the External Relations and Strategy, International and ELICOS and Commercial Business areas. The structure was circulated to staff for input, but was not provided directly to the unions.

At first look, the proposal has some difficulties. It appears 12 positions have been deleted, with 21 new ones created. Given the stated reasons of the restructure is to save money, the only way to end up with a net increase of positions is to downgrade roles; other than management roles, which seem to have been upgraded.

Almost the entire Proposed Business Development Model is temporary, with only three out of 30 staff permanent. Also included are transitional structures without any real description of why this is required.

Hunter TAFE claims the proposals are a result of extensive engagement with stakeholders. The PSA (CPSU) is seeking input from members directly to assist in the drafting of our feedback on the proposal.
