Violence is not part of the job
Have you experienced threats, intimidation, physical and/or verbal abuse, whilst doing your job. This could be from a family, a service provider or from someone with in your workplace. None of this should be accepted as “just part of working in Child Protection.”
Everyone has the right to be safe at work. Yet members are reporting a pattern of serious incidents being minimised, or ignored, Safety Suite reports being closed, and concerns not being properly investigated.
The PSA is dedicated to ensuring you arrive home safe every day. Child protection work is highly complex, but a challenging job should never mean an unsafe workplace.
Please take 10 minutes to complete this confidential survey. Your responses will directly inform our upcoming safety campaigns and workplace advocacy.

- When a report on Safety Suite is closed without properly being addressed what happens is the incident may disappear from the system, but the risk remains.
- When violence is minimised, members are left carrying the consequences.
- When incidents aren’t properly recorded, the true scale of the problem is hidden.
Safety doesn’t happen by silence.
It happens when members speak up and stand together.
Report. Record. Escalate
1 Report every incident – create the paper trail. Email your line manager and put it on Safety Suite. Every incident. Every time.
2 Record what happened – keep your own record. Document the date, time, location, people involved, witnesses, threats, injuries, property damage and what action was taken.
3 Do not accept a closed report – challenge it. If your report is closed without proper investigation, or the seriousness of what happened is minimised talk to your Union.
You do not have to face this alone.
