Corrective Services (non custodial) Update on dispute re Flexible Working Hours, 25 March 2015
Non Custodial Bulletin – Update on dispute re flexible working hours – 25 March 2015 (PDF version)
On Friday 6 March 2015, the Industrial Relations Commission recommended that, in the interests of resolving the dispute, Corrective Services NSW provide information to the PSA to explain the need for the restrictions to the flexible working hours for Offender Services and Program staff at Cessnock, Kempsey and Lithgow, and then meet with the PSA by 20 March 2015.
Corrective Services NSW has failed to comply with the recommendation of the Commission and has ignored correspondence from the PSA. Consequently, there was no utility in meeting in the absence of any new and specific information.
Members at the affected Centres have consistently said that the operational needs of the Centres were being met under existing flexible work arrangements and an adequate level of service was being provided. The inability of Corrective Services NSW to provide any information to the contrary confirms the view of our members that there is some other motivation for the restrictions.
The PSA has approached the Industrial Relations Commission to report back about the progress of the dispute and seek a recommendation that the directions are contrary to your Flexible Working Hours Agreement.
What can I do?
The PSA has received advice from members that similar directions have been made in other Centres. We are looking into this, but if you have any information, please contact your local delegate or work group.
