COVID-19 safety plans being requested for private functions

Members from various parts of Corrective Services have notified the PSA of an attempt to require staff to submit COVID-19 safety plans for social gatherings with colleagues, even if these gatherings are out of hours and on weekends.

So long as the event is not funded or organised by Corrective Service, this requirement should not have been imposed on members. The need to submit a COVID-19 safety plan is an overreach of the Department and unnecessary incursion into the privacy of members.  The PSA advises members they do not need to submit COVID safety plans to their employers for out-of-hours events or functions organised in a private capacity. There are existing NSW Government rules and restrictions at venues. Further, currently there are no restrictions on the number of individuals allowed in at a residence subject to vaccination requirements.

If members have further questions or would like to raise a particular situation, you can contact the Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679 for assistance.
