PSA meetings

Thank you to those members who were able to attend the PSA meetings in Parramatta on 17 February 2015 and Bathurst on 26 February 2015 as we move into Step 3 of the placement process of the Corporate Finance – Functional Realignment.

Step 3 – self matching

The PSA has been advised that Step 3 – self matching of all remaining unfilled roles has commenced and closed at 5pm today 16 March 2015.

One of the issues raised at our meeting with members at Bathurst on 21 November 2014 were concerns that temporary roles of 12 months or more were going straight to external advertisement (Step 6).

After representations by the PSA, the Department has agreed that temporary roles of 12 months or longer will be available for staff to self match to in Step 3 should they choose to do so.

This is an important win for PSA members. While we would recommend that ongoing staff do everything they can to secure an ongoing role, members should take advantage of securing a long-term temporary role if they can’t secure the former.

This will keep your employment in the public sector beyond the retention period and increases your chances of securing another ongoing role at a later time.

Please note that the PSA is still in discussions with the Department and PSA delegates have raised some additional issues which we will report back to members separately.

Pool assessment ranking

Some members have stated that they have not been informed of their ranking in their pool. While it would not be appropriate to publicly release people’s rankings, knowing your place in the pool may influence your decision as to how to proceed in Step 3 and beyond.

In the first instance, members are advised to seek feedback from the convenor of the panel who should be able to advise you of your ranking.
