Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water: Grants Branch restructure

  25 May 2026

The Public Service Association is calling a follow-up members’ meeting to discuss the proposed restructure in the Grants Branch of Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement (SPSE) Group within NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), and understands a town hall meeting was held on Thursday 14 May.

The PSA understands this proposed change is part of a review following the Towards One changes. While there are no proposed cuts to non-executive staff, we understand a number of vacant roles are proposed to be deleted. Two new EO14 roles are to be created, with approximately 47 staff to be realigned under them in the proposed structure, including some with changes to role descriptions.

DCCEEW are aware of their obligations to consult meaningfully on organisational change, and have indicated this proposal follows a significant informal co-design process on a number of possible structures.

This formal consultation focuses on one proposed structure and runs for 2 weeks from 14 May.
