Environment Protection Authority: consultation update
The PSA met with members in the Environment Protection Authority on Monday 27 October to discuss the announced job cuts and restructure.
More than 230 people attended the meeting and aired their concerns about the proposed cuts. Members further ventilated their concerns including staff being told they are already on the mobility process.
Industrial Officer Michael Sinclair, Organiser Michael Parsons and Delegate Jane Burgett met with the CEO Tony Chappell immediately afterwards in an unplanned meeting and raised your concerns directly. Mr Chappell gave an undertaking to investigate those issues and reiterated we are still in the consultation period, no staff have yet been placed into the mobility process.
The PSA understands the executive have issued further communication to staff to clarify this point.
The PSA is holding a follow up members’ meeting for Thursday 30 October to be held in person at 6PSQ and via teams.
PSA Organiser Michael Parsons will be in attendance at 6PSQ.

PSA is taking a multi-faceted approach
PSA General Secretary Stewart Little met with your delegates during their Departmental Committee training held on Tuesday to discuss the issues you’ve raised.
The General Secretary immediately contacted the Hon. Penny Sharpe to highlight your concerns and the Minister committed to respond to the PSA with an update by Friday 31 October.
The PSA has also notified the EPA CEO that the Association has listed a dispute in relation to the matter in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission seeking detailed information on the report used to justify the proposed cuts, what alternative savings were considered and why were they rejected, and greater detail on the current and proposed structures.
The PSA is also proposing a lunchtime action at Parramatta Square to oppose the cuts to take place on Wednesday 5 November 2025.
