Fair Trading PSA members’ meeting: Industrial Relations Commission report back

On Wednesday 14 January 2026, the Public Service Association (PSA) appeared before Commissioner Muir in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) for a scheduled report back between the PSA and Customer Service NSW regarding the Fair Trading restructure dispute.

The PSA raised the following concerns on behalf of members:

  1. Multiple PSA members were advised by the department on Wednesday 24 December 2025 (Christmas Eve) that they were unsuccessful in obtaining a role via the Stage 3A Internal Mobility process.
  1. A number of PSA members were still awaiting notification of the outcome of their applications for roles under the Stage 3A Internal Mobility process and that the department had far exceeded its estimated timeframe of advising applicants by 8 December 2025.
  1. Several PSA members were advised that reference checks would be undertaken including in one instance from a manager who was not the nominated referee for the member’s application for roles under the Stage 3A Internal Mobility process.

Customer Service advised the Commission that it is ‘hoping’ to provide outcomes to all remaining applicants by Friday 16 January 2026.

The matter is listed for a further report back before the Commission on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
