Feedback on the proposed changes to Firearms

The PSA has received formal notification of the long-talked-about proposed changes to the structure at the Firearms Registry. You can see the change proposal that was provided to us HERE.

Staff were provided much more information during the local consultation sessions and on the intranet. You will have a better idea on how these changes will impact the workplace.

We are seeking your feedback on the proposed changes so we can meet with management next week as part of the consultation process. On first impressions, it does seem to help address some of the silo issues that members have been raising with the PSA and could overall be a better structure.

We do have initial concerns about the ‘delimiting’ of some of the 9/10 and 3/4 roles and the potential for 5/6s to lose managerial responsibilities and the impact on future career prospects.

Please provide written feedback to your local delegate Trudy Lewis at or your local PSA organiser Asren Pugh at by close of business Tuesday 14 September.

Some issues that you may want to consider in providing feedback:

  • Does the overall structure better meet the needs of the workplace and address some of the long-term issues, such as silos and internal communication?
  • Do the proposed role descriptions better or more accurately reflect the true work that is undertaken, or not?
  • Are you directly impacted by having your current role ‘delimited’ or changed significantly?
  • Are there specific issues or questions with the preferencing process you wish to raise?
  • What do you think is the impact of losing the 9/10 and 3/4 positions?
  • Any other issues?

The PSA will support all members through this change process. If you have issues specific to you and your role please get in touch with us.

We will organise a time to report back to members following our meeting with management next week.

The PSA can only represent members. If you are not yet a member please join today at www.psa.asn.au.
