The Public Service Association held a members’ meeting online and in person at Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Greenacre HQ on Tuesday 18 August to discuss the proposed restructure.
The PSA wrote to FRNSW management following that meeting requesting an extension of the consultation period by two weeks to allow for meaningful engagement on these wide-reaching, proposed changes. FRNSW agreed to an extension of one week. Consultation will now close on Wednesday 2 September.
FRNSW risks losing skilled and experienced staff who perform critical functions supporting the agency and the fire fighters keeping our cities and towns safe across the state. While there is a small increase in the number of roles overall, new proposed roles are concentrated at certain grades, with losses concentrated at others. The change management plan limits EOI opportunities to at-grade, disadvantaging those who may have been acting in higher duties for extended periods of time in Community Safety, Talent Acquisition, Strategic Safety, IT, Protocol and more.
