Functional realignment of DCCEEW’s Governance and Legal Division

The PSA is seeking member feedback to the functional realignment of the Governance and Legal Division of NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) that was announced to staff on 27 January. The intention is stated as to better align the division to the anticipated needs of DCCEEW in 2026 and to reduce disparity of team sizes.

In a presentation to the PSA it was stated there would be no job losses. Four new EO14 roles will be created, open to internal applicants via an internal-only EOI process. This could mean four staff changing roles and it was stated that it has not yet been determined what would be done with the vacant roles of those who were promoted – they could be deleted.

Only the Environment and Energy, Roadmap and Energy, and Commercial and Property teams will be impacted, with some staff experiencing no change, some doing the same work but moved under a new director and some becoming more specialised (e.g., focusing entirely on Energy rather than Energy and Environment).

We are seeking your feedback, which must be submitted by the PSA by 10 February so please send us your views and questions before that date to . Input will be anonymised.

You are the experts in your work. You understand the issues, the current structure, the likely impacts of the change, the leadership, the obstacles you face, and the things that enable you to work effectively. Please assist us to ensure that change is for the better.
