PSA members have contacted their union this week after being contacted by the ATO in relation to a GovConnect error affecting their tax returns for 2020-2021. The PSA has now been advised by the Department that 521 staff across the cluster (189 from Service NSW) were impacted.
The affected staff would have done their tax returns prior to 23 August 2021 when the error was corrected. The Department will be contacting those staff today and the PSA at this time advises its members to follow the directions from that communication.
Needless to say, this is yet another GovConnect failure to add to an ever growing list of concerns and another argument as to why you should never outsource your payroll function.
