Government Records Repository privitisation update
Government Records Repository privatisation update – March 2016 (PDF version)
This bulletin is to update members on the PSA’s response to State Records Authority (SRA) Director Geoff Hinchcliffe’s notification to all SRA staff on 12 February that the Government had, as part of its GRR Review “commenced initial discussions with the market to sound out potential options for the future”.
The PSA wrote to the Director of the State Records Authority seeking a meeting. Read a copy of that letter HERE.
The PSA Assistant General Secretary and PSA industrial staff will now meet with Mr Hinchcliffe to put forward our serious reservations concerning any potential future privatisation of the GRR Unit, and in particular how any privatisation will affect existing employees within the unit, as well as the detrimental impact it will likely have upon the broader community.
The PSA’s view is there can be no justification for handing the private sector the function of managing public sector records – and the Government needs to come clean with the public on what information it is relying upon.
