Illawarra Shoalhaven District and Southern NSW Department of Communities and Justice Joint Consultative Committee
Your union, the PSA, has been working to set up a Community Services/Housing Delegate forum. This will help Delegates across the Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern NSW region communicate with the PSA and each other.
The PSA represents your interests at meetings with management called Joint Consultative Committees (JCCs). The purpose of a JCC is to establish a regular forum for issues and concerns to be raised with management and addressed collaboratively.
It’s been a long time in the making, but your PSA officials and a delegation of your delegates had their first JCC with the region’s Department of Communities and Justice (DJC) executive management on Tuesday 15 December 2020.
Some issues raised included:
- Flex sheets and work hours being lost and methods to monitor and resolve inappropriate practices.
- Casework, the benefit of the workload planner and how the District supports and encourages its use to assist with workload.
- Housing’s successful conversion of LTT’s to permanent status.
We heard that leave planning over the Christmas period had been delayed in some parts of the region, with examples given of members being unfairly impacted. Management agreed that leave planning should be completed in advance and the process should be earlier in the year.
We have asked for the dates for cluster and JCC meetings for next year and will be contacting members prior to the meetings for any issues they may have.
