It pays to belong: PSA wins overtime dispute

Our campaign to ensure Service NSW staff are paid for all overtime worked has been successful.

Today Service NSW formally acknowledged that it has been in contravention of the Service NSW (Salaries and Conditions) Employees Award and confirmed that from 13 February 2026 all staff will be paid for all time worked.

New instructions outlining how overtime is to be approved, recorded and paid have now been issued by Service NSW. You can read the letter from Service NSW HERE.

Back pay

Service NSW has also confirmed there will be back pay for staff who were owed unpaid overtime. Negotiations between the PSA and Service NSW regarding the process and timing of back payments are ongoing, and members will be updated as soon as further details are available. We will consult with members during the negotiation process. To have a voice join the PSA today.

Union power

This win did not happen by accident. It is the direct result of members standing together and the PSA holding Service NSW to account.

This is exactly what a union is about.

Join the PSA

With this win, now is the time to join the PSA. Only union members can be assisted with individual overtime claims, audits, and enforcement of Award entitlements. Joining ensures you have representation, protection and support to recover unpaid overtime and to hold the employer to account.
