Each month the PSA CPSU NSW will focus on a benefit available to all members. This month we will cover Gidget Foundation, which is available not just to members, but to their immediate families as well.
Gidget Foundation
Gidget Foundation Australia supports the mental health of people who are pregnant, trying to start a family, caring for a new baby, or experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. Support is also available following pregnancy or the loss of a baby, infertility or a traumatic birth.
Financial PSA CPSU NSW members and their immediate family members can access up to 10 free individual psychological counselling sessions per calendar year with a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan. Depending on your location, these sessions may be provided face-to-face at a Gidget House location or online through telehealth.
Gidget Houses are located in both metro and regional areas of NSW. Locations can be found HERE.
Members can access free online group programs led by specialist perinatal mental health clinicians, giving expectant and new parents a safe space to connect with others experiencing similar challenges.
Gidget Foundation Australia also offers information, peer support and practical resources for mothers, fathers, partners and families.
Every member that contacts PSA CPSU NSW with a maternity/parental leave issue will be posted out a Gidget Bunny Book.
