LATEST NEWS: Government Sector Employment Bill, Budget Cuts and Campaign
On Monday 17 June 2013, the General Secretary, Anne Gardiner and the Management Committee of the PSA submitted your petition with 16,000 signatures to a group of Upper House MPs.
Despite the support of the Labor Party and the Greens for this Bill to go to an Inquiry, on Wednesday 19 June, this Bill and the associated Members of Parliament Staff Bill 2013, were passed unamended.
This is a disappointing outcome and we must now escalate our campaign to protect jobs, conditions and the independence of the NSW Public Service.
The State Budget outlines additional job cuts in a range of Departments and further information on the impact of these cuts for individual Departments will be provided.
The Budget also extends the efficiency dividend and foreshadows plans to claw back superannuation increases guaranteed by the Federal Government.
The PSA is calling on all members to engage with the Union to build an effective campaign.
