Lord Howe Island health order - Public Service Association

Lord Howe Island health order

The NSW Government issued a specific COVID-19 health order for Lord Howe Island on 20 March 2020.

This health order was designed to prevent infections on the island which is considered an at risk environment, as getting access to the necessary intensive care will be difficult.

The order requires, among other things:

  1. Restricting all travel to/from the island, excepting residents returning, non-residents leaving, supply ships and aircraft, and medical and health personnel.
  2. Enforced quarantine of all returning people to the island for a quarantine period in one premise.

As 10 days has passed, if members are having difficulties with the operation of the order at their work, they are advised to ring the PSA.

As infections can be asymptomatic, like all people around the world during the COVID19 pandemic, it is recommended that Lord Howe Island residents also practice social distancing, increased hygiene and hand washing, as recommended by NSW Health. However, we should continue to look out for our workmates and neighbours by regularly touching base.

If isolation or COVID-19 are causing you stress and anxiety or coping difficulties, contact your employer’s EAP service, or Lifeline Australia 13 11 14.

The PSA will remain open online and over the telephone for Lord Howe members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
