Your union has been involved in a protracted dispute with the Department in relation to travelling compensation and meal expenses.
With the help of the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC), an agreement was struck to resolve the PSA Dispute with the Department of Customer Service (DCS) in relation to the interpretation and application of clauses 26 and 29 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.
As per requirement of the agreement to resolve the dispute, the Department agreed it would instigate a review into claims lodged by employees under Clauses 26 and 29 between 12 December 2017 and 25 May 2022 and would rectify any payment that may not have been made properly.
PSA is pleased to advise members that the Department identified over 900 past and present employees who have been underpaid to the tune of $130,000.
Payments will be making their way to you in the coming days.
PSA is still negotiating with DCS in relation to a small number of individual members with outstanding claims in this regard but other than that, we consider the matter of unpaid lodged claims now closed.
We are however still in dispute around the definition of a field worker and what that means in relation to entitlement to a meal allowance. We are back in the IRC next week and will provide a further update to members in due course.
We would like to thank you, our members, for your patience during the time it has taken to get this significant win for you.
Remember that we are only as strong as each other and together we can achieve greater fairness and equity in our workplaces.
