Your delegates would like the opportunity to get to know their members and have asked the PSA to facilitate a member meeting so they can meet you. Lisa Peek will chair the meet and greet alongside advisory delegates, with PSA staff on hand to assist.

The group has recently said farewell to Josh Larwood, who has stepped down from the Student Support Officers Advisory Group. His input over the last two years, and his representation of the Central West Student Support Officer network, have been greatly valued.

Rose Doley has accepted a secondment within DOE Corporate, and the advisory group is excited for her as she takes this next step. The committee extends heartfelt thanks to Josh and Rose for all the hard work they have done supporting student support officers, as well as for their continued support.

As one door closes, another opens, and we warmly welcome Thea McBeath from Hay War Memorial High School in the Central West.

Thea said,

I am Thea, SSO at Hay War Memorial High School and I have been here for the last 3 years after making the move from South West Sydney to regional NSW.

Prior to working with the Department of Education, I worked as a Youth Case Manager for an NGO supporting vulnerable young people across Northern Sydney through mentoring, advocacy, court support, creating referral pathways, and helping young people connect to their local community youth centres.

I’m passionate about youth advocacy, strengthening community connections, and encouraging services to better support rural communities. I genuinely believe making the move to support young people in regional NSW has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life so far. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me walking my dog somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
