Members at Environment Protection Agency abandoned by management
3 November 2025
The PSA met with members in the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) on Thursday 23 October to discuss the announced restructures and job cuts to 69 ongoing staff and 211 vacant roles.
An astonishing 200 plus people attended the meeting and aired their concerns about the proposed cuts.
The PSA is appalled by the lack of empathy for staff, the incomplete and inconsistent information provided, and in some cases misinformation given to staff by the EPA.
Through this meeting, members have requested a copy of the report that EPA is relying upon to justify these cuts to critical environment protection roles.
The PSA contends that until complete and accurate information is provided, consultation has not begun.
The PSA is calling an urgent follow up members’ meeting for Monday 27 October to be held in person at 6PSQ and via teams. PSA Industrial Officer Michael Sinclair and PSA Organiser Michael Parsons will both be in attendance at 6PSQ.
