Northern District Housing Services: end of year wrap up
Its been a tough year for the Northern District, finishing up with our bi-monthly Joint Consultative Committee meeting (JCC) on 16 December 2025. There was such a packed agenda we have arranged an extraordinary meeting on 19 January 2026 to continue where we left off. You can view the agenda HERE.
Functional review
The PSA hears your concerns and we have raised this at a district and state level JCC. Please review the bulletin about this HERE.
PSA encourages all members to log any issues in the new ND Functional Review Issues Log that has been set up some four weeks after the realignment went live. If you are experiencing any WHS issues then they need to be logged via a Safety Suite report.
While management are saying it’s teething problems, our members are saying it’s not – it’s the impact of losing 37 positions out of the district. The PSA will continue to highlight this.
Phone lines
Members feel like they have been sold a dud here as the Functional Review was supposed to streamline this process. Management now state that clients are a priority so all will be required to be on the phones at peak times. The PSA is of the view it’s a direct result of this district losing 37 positions.
Flexible Work Practices
Your executive confirms that there is no change to your flexible work conditions in all teams, it’s up to staff and managers to ensure all don’t work excessive hours. We agree, but ultimately it is a mangers responsibility to ensure staff are not working excessive hours. Training will be provided to management in the new year.
Dispute on concierge at Lismore and Tuggerah sites remains in place.
Members stand united on this and refused to increase their Work Heath and Safety risk by working the concierge.
The PSA would like to thank our delegates and members for their support this year. What was glaringly obvious was the care and concern that all of you had about the impact of the functional review on your clients and colleagues.
