POVB industrial action bulletin

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre (MNCC) this week undertook industrial action due to Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) planning to hold a presentation of a memorial plaque to ex inmate David Dungay’s family inside of MNCC.

Through consultation directly with the minister, POVB state executive and the PSA were able get the event cancelled and assured any such events would not be held in the future within Correctional Centres.

This was an extremely positive outcome achieved locally by MNCCC POVB for the whole State.

POVB  achieved this result within an hour of holding industrial action and returned to duty at the commencement of the next shift in good faith due to the Minister acting swiftly.

Thanks to the entire MNCCC POVB members for their professionalism during this whole process.

Well done.

Metropolitan Special Programs Centre and Long Bay Risk Intervention Team matter

Metropolitan Special Programs Centre (MSPC) and Long Bay Hospital (LBH) delegates attended the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) on 18 December regarding Risk Intervention Team (RIT) observations, no agreement was reached with the matter now set down for arbitration on February 16, 17, 19, and 20 2026.

The POVB offered to perform the RIT roles in the interim until the arbitration dates attempting  to be financially responsible.

This was rejected by senior executive and the roles will continue to be covered by the COVB /SEAG on overtime.

We are currently in an economic environment where concerns are continually raised concerning being over budget so this is a mind boggling decision.

Shortland eight hour model
