PSA Justice legal Fund for PSA members of the NSW Police Force
Did you know that PSA offers a Justice Legal Fund for our members at New South Wales Police Force?
Our members play a vital role in the NSW Police Force, facing challenging and potentially dangerous situations while protecting members of the Community and their colleagues. The nature of your work means you have a much higher risk of requiring certain types of legal representation in the course of your employment.
To support our members in the Justice sector, the PSA offers a comprehensive legal fund
The legal fund will cover you for any criminal matters that arise in the course of your employment. It will also mean you get representation for any coronial matter.
The Legal Fund, modeled on a similar scheme already available to Prison Officers, provides a range of enhanced legal services for members commonly exposed to difficult and dangerous situations in the course of their employment, including:
- Alleged criminal offenses arising out of or in the course of employment.
- Making a claim under the Victims Right and Support Act 2013 which arises out of or in the course of employment.
- Any Coronial Enquiry where the interests of the member and their employer diverge.
- Any commission of enquiry or tribunal conducting an enquiry whose findings could have an adverse effect upon the member of the Legal Fund.
- Legal defense for work-related criminal allegations
We strongly recommend that all PSA members of NSW Police Force, join the Legal Fund for protection beyond industrial relations matters. Your exposure to vulnerable situations are unpredictable. Now is the time to join the Justice Legal Fund.
PSA Members can join the Justice Sector Legal Fund for just $2 per week – fully tax deductible, like your union fees.
