In 2024 the Industrial Relations Commission handed down a determination in a Work Value Case for NSW Police Force Special Constables run by the Public Service Association (PSA). As part of that ruling, Special Constables were awarded Overtime Meal Allowance rates that were set by the Australian Tax Office (ATO).
The PSA and your delegates have consistently raised the issue of these Overtime Meal Allowance Claims still being paid at the existing rate of $10.75 for the first, and any subsequent meal allowances paid at the rate of $9.95 over the last two years.
The PSA has been advised that an audit of these payments has been conducted via the Security Management Group Command to identify staff who are eligible for back payment.
The applicable rates are:
- From 1 July 2024: $37.65
- From 1 July 2025: $38.65
- From 1 July 2026: $40.00
We understand that our members have been back paid for these incorrect amounts. If you believe you have not received the correct amount, please contact the PSA Member Support Centre (MSC) on 1800 662 672
These wins are not possible without the support of members and your workplace delegates. The PSA strongly encourages you to speak to any non-members to join the PSA by completing the online joining form HERE.
If you would like any further information about PSA membership entitlements, how to join, or to organise a visit in your workplace please contact your organiser or industrial officer.
