PSA’s concerns with the EPA’s message

PSA’s Concerns with the EPA’s Message - Jan 2020 (PDF version)

On 11 December 2019 the EPA invited the PSA to attend a meeting regarding a new Proposed Executive Structure. During the meeting the PSA was advised consultation would occur prior to its implementation

During this meeting the PSA raised a number of concerns regarding what implications the proposed new structure would have on our members.

The PSA met with EPA senior management on Friday 31 January 2020 regarding the proposed rollout of the Executive Structure due to take effect on Monday 3 February 2020.

The PSA again raised concerns regarding the lack of consultation and direct impact the Executive Structure would have on our members.

Due to the PSA’s concerns, the EPA agreed the Executive Structure would be rolled out Monday 3 February, however there would be no impact on staff until proper consultation took place between the EPA and PSA. A meeting is due to be convened on the week commencing 10 February 2020.

It was also agreed the EPA would send out a clear message to staff by COB Friday 31 January 2020 advising of the agreed outcomes between the EPA and the PSA and the status quo would remain in place.

The PSA is extremely disappointed with the message the EPA provided as it is confusing as to what was agreed at the meeting on Friday 31 January 2020. The PSA did not agree to structures and reporting lines being provided to staff prior to proper consultation occurring.

The PSA advises EPA members that if the Executive realignment has any impact upon you prior to any consultation occurring, the PSA will be looking into what industrial options are available to it in resolving members’ concerns.

A members’ meeting will be held on Tuesday 4 February 2020 between 1.00pm and 2.00pm in Room 14, 4PSQ on Level 11.
