A member meeting was held at RYJC on Wednesday 28 August 2024, the main purpose of the meeting was to call for nominations for delegates as RYJC has not had any PSA delegates for a couple years.
Other agenda items included:
- RTW staff filling operational roles.
- Risk assessment of mixing units for programs
- Consistencies of unit programs – Slattery sign-off, meals, clothing
- How Departmental Committees(DC) & Joint Consultative Committees(JCC) work
- Local V Collective issues
After the meeting we met with A/CM James English and discussion was had around the above items and assurance was given that the issues would be rectified.
The members listed below have nominated to be delegates:
- Rob Hughes
- Megan Hornery
- Kim Norman
- Annie Liufau
- Craig Vallet
Next step is to meet with the above delegates and seek nominations for 4 Executive positions and a number of activist/contacts to represent the different lines, units, shifts and roles this will occur in the next two weeks.
If more than 1 person nominates for a position, then a ballot will be conducted.
The positions are: –
- Chair
- Vice Chair
- Secretary
- Vice Secretary
- Line delegates
Due to the meeting only covering 2 shifts and not all members on shift being able to attend nominations will be open for delegate roles for the next week so please consider nominating. Workplace delegates are the lifeblood of your union. You are the voice of your workplace, and you will work directly with your organiser and industrial officer to advocate for your colleagues at Reiby YJC.
Elected delegates will be provided with training and support from PSA staff. Elected delegates also have additional protection under the Award.
Unity is strength. It is essential we are united and strong to continue protecting your rights and entitlements at work. Unionised workplaces are better workplaces.
