The ‘Child Protection In Crisis’ campaign commenced on 8 May 2024 and our members have participated in weekly lunch time walk outs rolled out across the entire State.
Today is the start of ‘Child Protection Week’, it’s time for the Government to show that the work being done to support the children and families is valued.
The PSA has called an URGENT member meeting for 12:00pm today.
At this meeting IMMEDIATE Action will be discussed.
The Minister has stated, “The only way we can support kids is to support Carers and Caseworkers.”
“The most vulnerable children in NSW are at risk of serious harm, or even worse, because child protection caseworkers are chronically understaffed and exhausted,” said Mr Little. “Child Protection Caseworkers are now concerned that by exposing vulnerable children to a broken system they may suffer even more harm.”
“People in Child Protection don’t take action lightly; they know how important every single minute of their work is. But they just can’t go on as the system crumbles around their ears.”
No More Delay, Action needed NOW
There can be no more delays and action is needed now! These changes must be implemented now, as the pressure placed on Child Protection due to vacancies and attrition is at crisis point.
It is vital that all members participate and attend the meeting today.
